These large (48”x 24”) oil paintings on canvas were completed at the end of 2004. Although the play of line and interlocking form continues to be a dominant theme, the rich, somber palette of earthy ochre, warm browns, and mossy greens represents a departure. As initially seen in the Adirondack series, the texture is very pronounced. (The entire series was completed using palette knifes.) As a result, the interaction of complements is much subtler. This, in addition to the heavily worked surface, has posed a challenge for photographing the work. The Dancers will be photographed again in early 2006.
